A small party of UK journalists from national newspapers and magazines recently visited a cross section of gardens in the Madrid area to get a taste of the style and nature Worldwide Garden Tours’ trips.
Hosted by general manager Peter Moxley the party visited a selection of public and very private gardens and enjoyed a taste of Spain’s capital city, including a personally guided visit to Madrid’s Museo Nacional Del Prado.
The journalists are all garden writers and included Helen Yemm (The Daily Telegraph), Stephen Anderton (The Times) and Steven Desmond (Country Life). After the visit Stephen Anderton said:
“What a trip! Not just ‘gardens of Madrid’ but fine food, pavilions and palaces, too. Smliles of delight for us all every day. There’s nothing so fascinating as other people’s world.”
The tours were guided by Anneli Bojstad, the author of “ “ and Susanna Blas Del Campo and included the world famous La Granja royal house and gardens North of Madrid, the city’s Botanical Garden plus trips to a number of privately owned gardens that are rarely if ever open to the public.
